How to Get a UX Job With No Experience

Is it possible to become a UX Designer with a different background? YES.

LISTEN. You have to become a good listener. This is the most important soft skill that you have to develop.

WHEN YOU LISTEN, you start to develop empathy, and that means that you’ll be able to understand what people think, feel, say, and do!

DON’T ASSUME! But interpret what the person is trying to say.

Start to practice the Design Thinking Process.

  1. Empathize
  2. Define
  3. Ideate
  4. Prototype
  5. Test

Ok, ok, all clear.

But how do I get the job?

Create a UX portfolio and show 2-3 case studies.

But what if the project is it not “real”?

It doesn’t matter, show what your process is and how you reflect.

How?

  • Take a Bootcamp/Course.
  • Volunteer.
  • Redesign an existing product/service.
  • Find a creative way to show what you can do, and how.
